The arrival of the alien comet for the first time!
Many of us are familiar with aliens or alien creatures thanks to science fiction movies. But have you ever heard of an alien comet?
Comets regularly orbit our solar system, but recently scientists believe that they have seen for the first time a comet from another solar system passing by the Earth. The comet, named C / 2017U1, was first spotted by a telescope in Hawaii on October 18 and was seen 34 more times the following week.
Astronomers believe that the comet C / 2017U1 could be the first comet to come from somewhere outside the solar system and pass through the solar system.
Where most comets revolve in an elliptical orbit around the Sun, these comets appear in an angular orbit and do not revolve around the Sun. Looking at its orbit, it is clear that it came from the direction of the Lira constellation and entered our solar system and will never return.
Southeast Research Institute astronomer said. “It’s a long way off, but we can’t really get back to where it started,” Simon Porter told New Scientist. It may have come from outside the solar system, but it’s really hard to say. ‘
The observation, published by the Minor Planet Center (MPC) of the International Astronomical Union, suggests that the comet came from another star. “If further observations confirm the unusual nature of this orbit, this object could be the first clear example of an outer comet,” said the MPC scientists.
However, not everyone believes that the comet came from another solar system. University of North Florida astronomer said. “It could be related to Jupiter or to another planet in the solar system that has just changed its orbit,” said Maria Omek.
Astronomers are taking steps to monitor the origin of the comet.
